"If this drug is used for something that can cause these side effects, it's important to understand that these side effects don't happen in the normal way and that's why it's important to take the right steps to minimize them."
Katzel said, "Physicians should be aware that there is a high degree of risk associated with the use of Viagra and that this risk increases with age."
"In general, men over 40 are more likely to experience these side effects and patients are more likely to get them," she said.
The side effects that have been reported include a headache, indigestion, flushing, nasal congestion, muscle aches, nosebleeds, indigestion, back pain and back aches.
Headache is one of the most common side effects of Viagra.
"The most common side effect reported was that of headache, but these are rare and may be temporary, and in some people the side effects can be resolved at any time," said Dr. Katzel.
Pfizer also has a new product called Supercard, which will reduce the frequency and severity of erections by half.
It is the first drug to be approved by the FDA for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
"Erectile dysfunction is a common condition that affects millions of men worldwide, and the use of Viagra could have a significant adverse effect on erections," said the FDA.
